Sign the petition to call on Wollongong City Council to process food waste in the Green Bin

Most residential houses in Wollongong already have green waste bins for lawn clippings, small branches, weeds and other garden waste which is turned into compost. The is a missed opportunity to collect food waste.

Food waste is currently the largest component in Wollongong household landfill bins. Food waste rotting in landfill is also the greatest source of greenhouse gas emissions from Wollongong City Council's operations. 32 Councils around NSW have already implemented FOGO (Food Organics Garden Organics) bin services. We want Wollongong City Council to extend the trial to the whole of wollongong.

Benefits:  - Reduce waste sent to landfill
               - Create more compost
               - Cut greenhouse gas emissions

Update: Wollongong City Council are conducting a FOGO trial for selected households in Austinmer, Cordeaux Heights and Warrawong from September to November 2019.

I call on Wollongong City Council to extend FOGO (Food Organics Garden Organics) bin services to the whole local government area.
