Time to electrify Cunningham

Imagine being able to save about $4,190 a year on your household bills. And at the same time create more than 1,690 jobs in Cunningham. Just by going all electric.

Greens candidate for Cunningham Jess Whittaker called for the complete electrification of every household and business in the seat of Cunningham.

“This simple step allows all households to save up to $4,190 a year on their household bills,” Ms Whittaker said. “When our planet is heating and we are ravaged by more floods, fires, droughts and other climate catastrophes, it’s time we move to decarbonise Cunningham as soon as we can.”

For the Federal election the Australian Greens have announced a policy to support all households and businesses with solar cells to install battery storage.

Adam Bandt, leader of the Australian Greens said: “In a wealthy country like ours, everyone should have clean, cheap energy. The Greens want to turn every house into a powerhouse.

“Getting homes off gas reduces pollution and helps bring down energy bills. It’s good for your health and it’s good for the environment.

“We will electrify our homes and businesses and energise our country, leading to greater safety and prosperity.”

Rewiring Australia has found that electrifying each household and business in Cunningham will not only save money for households, it will reduce our carbon emissions as well as save up to $274 million each year by 2030.

“Now is the time to change our course in Cunningham,” Ms Whittaker said. “We can’t keep on voting for a Labor government which has approved 10 coal and gas mines since May 2022 and there’s another 22 waiting for approval. We can’t consider opening up further gas mines which will put millions of tonnes of carbon into our already overloaded atmosphere.

“If you want to reduce your cost of living and create more jobs here for locals, you have to vote for it.”
