Justice for refugees and asylum seekers
The main speaker, Zaki Haidari, former refugee and advocate for justice for Hazara people and all those seeking their legal right to asylum, will be our main speaker.
Zaki will share stories about those who have suffered under the injustices of Australian illegal and immoral immigration policies. Zaki currently works as a refugee campaigner with Amnesty International.
Community activist and Greens campaigner Rachael Jacobs will also be speaking. Rachael is a founding member of Teachers for Refugees. For the coming federal election, she is on Dr Mehreen Faruqi’s senate ticket.
The rally program includes a talk by local Catholic priest, Father Ken Café, and performances by musicians Rising Tide and local choirs. The rally will finish with a short march (police approved).
