The Koalas - Sutherland Special Screening & Filmmaker Q&A

Bundeena filmmakers Gregory Miller and Georgia Wallace-Crabbe bring their acclaimed feature documentary THE KOALAS to the Sutherland Shire for a Special Screening and Filmmaker Q&A with guest speakers. Learn how koalas are doing nationally as well as locally in SW Sydney and Sutherland Shire.

The Koalas takes audiences on a journey into the lives of individual koalas, led by charismatic characters, Wonnie, Bexley, Tom, Baz, Coral and joeys Hope and Pala. As their stories unfold, we witness the unique characteristics of koalas, their bond with their young, and the wildlife carers they come into contact with as well as learn about the threats they face. These seven koalas are ambassadors for all koalas - who face an uncertain future.

Koalas are threatened with extinction in the wild by 2050. How can this be when governments are announcing new programs to protect them? The film sets out to learn about the drivers of extinction, and what we can do to help save koalas and other threatened species from further decline.

Audley Dance Hall will be open to serve a light dinner before the film from 5.30 for those who want to go earlier (not included in ticket price)

Following the screening: ice creams and popcorn for sale. A full bar will open for the entire event. Q&A discussion follows straight on from film.
